64, of Sun City Center Florida, passed away September 5th, 2013. She was born on January 26, 1949 in Bridgeport CT, and began her career as an elementary school teacher in Sherman CT. Her strong desire to help and advocate for others led her to later earn her law degree and start a career as a labor lawyer for the National Labor Relations Board. Even in her death, she continues to have an effect on others through her organ donation. She retired from the NLRB in NYC in 2010 and began a new journey in retirement with her loving husband, Lou, in Sun City Center. Rita was a member of the Sun City Center Masters Swimmers, the Aquasizers, The Purple Butterflies Red Hat Society, and a board member and tutor for The Hope Fund of Wimauma, FL. Rita leaves behind her devoted husband, Louis, a daughter, Adrienne and her daughter Megan, a son and daughter in law, Louie and Glenda and their children Antonio and Adriana, a sister, Catherine Tonelli, a brother and sister in law, Ermie and Jean Cuzzi, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. with the funeral service at 5 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at Sun City Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Fl. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hope Fund for Children, 2105 New Bedford Dr., Sun City Center FL, 33573.
