Robert Alvarez
January 10th, 1942 - July 24th, 2019
Robert was taken to Heaven on July 24, 2019. He was born in Marfa, Texas on January 10, 1942. He lived in Salinas for 74 years. He graduated from Salinas high school in 1960. He married the love of his life Lou Ann Landress on February 2, 1963. Robert was preceded in death by his mother Magdalena Alvarez and his father Refugio Alvarez and brother Ruben Alvarez. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lou Ann Alvarez, daughter Lori, (Shawn) grandchildren; Robert "Robby" Hardin, and Stevie Nicole "Sissy" Hardin. He is also survived by brother Rick Alvarez (Linea), five sisters; Beatrice Lopez, Eva Garcia(Art), Amelia Ramirez (Hank), Josie Mc Clure(Bill), and Irma Greenburg (Bill), also close sister-in-law Kay Dante (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews, all who he loved very much. Robert was a general contractor prior to his illness. He served in the United States Navy. He also recieved his pilots license. One of his most cherised hobbies was NASCAR. He and Lou Ann went to many races in his younger years, he both built and raced race cars. He was member of both the VFW and the American Legion. He had many friends. He was known to have a "rough" side, but a heart of gold. He was a very kind and a generous man. Robert's laughter and smile were priceless. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Services will be held at the Healey Mortuary on August 6th, 2019 at 10:00 am.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
