Robert Edward Arrington

Robert Edward Arrington, 77, died in Columbia on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. Born on July 22, 1940, in Washington, D.C, he was the son of the late James Stuart Arrington and Lois Pearsall Arrington. Mr. Arrington was a graduate of The University of South Carolina, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a 20-year veteran of The United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Major. During his service, his assignments included Edwards Air Force in California, Korea, Ecuador, and The Pentagon in Washington, D. C. Following his military retirement, he moved to Columbia and worked for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Mr. Arrington is survived by his brother, Ralph Arrington and his wife, Susan, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his niece, Katie de la Maza and her husband, Rafael, and their son, Luca, of Mt. Pleasant; and nephews, Stuart Arrington and his wife, Rebecca, and their daughter, Louise, of Columbia and Scott Arrington and his wife, Courtney, and their children, Jack Nash and McKinley, of Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Park, where full military honors will be performed in honor of his service to our country. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the service.
