On Wednesday November 9, 2011, at Georgetown University Hospital. Robert D. Beckman, 65, a lifelong resident of University Park, MD passed away from complications of diabetes. Robert graduated from Northwestern High School in 1964 and the University of Maryland, College Park in 1972 and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. An avid golfer, connoisseur of not-so-healthy food and storyteller, Robert retired in 2008 after serving 30 years in food service at the University of Maryland. Loving son of the late Edwin and Mildred Beckman. Beloved brother of Ronald Beckman of Manhattan Beach, CA., Randall Beckman of Frederick, MD and Roger Beckman of Washington, DC, Rosa Lee Lindsey of Germantown, MD, Rhonda D'Amico of Riva, MD and the late Richard Beckman. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday November 19, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7501 Adelphi Rd. Hyattsville, MD. Reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Robert to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org Tributes and condolences may be made at: www.rappfuneral.com
