Warner Robins, GA- Robert E. Blakely, 87, passed away May 14, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 17, 2018 in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00AM – 11:00AM. Robert was born November 22, 1930 in Taylor County, GA to the late Henry and Elizabeth Blakely. Everyone who knew Robert described him as a good person; he had a heart of gold and was a man true to his word. Robert was always willing to help others. He was also known as a hard worker who could fix anything; a man of many skills and talents he enjoyed working with his hands, woodworking, carpentry, gardening, and even enjoyed square-dancing. He retired from RAFB as a sheet metal mechanic, and later retired from Grumman Aerospace in Milledgeville where he worked closely with the engineering department to design and repair small engines. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Phillips Blakely and step son, Jerry Bagley. Survivors include his children, Sheila Held (Dave), Leisa Stincer (Eddie), Don Blakely (Andrea), Donna Dorsey (Larry); grandchildren, Gary Blakely (Amanda), Ben Stincer, Thomas Stincer, Daniel Stincer, Mitchell Teal (Ashley), Joey Teal, Derek Teal; great grandchildren, Hayden, Karson, Sadie, and Elijah. Mr. Blakely is also survived by his longtime companion, Vera Howard and her family In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Central Baptist Food Pantry at 1120 Lake Joy Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088.
