Bauman, Robert A. ?Bob,? 80, of St. Petersburg, died Monday October 7, 2002 at Edward White Hospital. He came here in 1948 from his native Chicago, IL. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was owner and operator of Central Garage from 1949 until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was the Distinguished President of Downtown Optimist Club and was active in the Festival of States Parade. He was a former member of the Lakewood Country Club, the St. Pete Yacht Club, and the Polywogs. He was formerly on the board of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret; a daughter, Marcie Ahlstrand, Bradenton, FL; three sons: Robb Bauman, St. Petersburg; Ron Bauman, Tampa, FL; and Michael Bauman, FT. Myers, FL; and seven grandchildren. Those who wish may make contributions in his name to the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg, 70-35th St. S., St. Petersburg, FL 33711.
