My Life Story Honorable Mayor Robert D. Corrie, 82, of Meridian, passed away very peacefully on December 10, 2018 at his home. Thus ended a journey of a life filled with success in his personal life, business life, and as both a Meridian Councilman and Mayor of Meridian, Idaho. Bob was born on April 5, 1936 in Danville, Illinois, the only child of Heber and Hazel Corrie. His parents lived and worked in Vincennes, Indiana for several years and moved to Canon City, Colorado when Bob was 10 years old. Bob graduated from Canon City High School in 1954, attended the University of Colorado, then transferred to Colorado State College where he received a BA Degree in August 1959. During those years, he met his future wife, Jeri, while attending a dance at the Armory while she was in town for a high school band competition. Thus began a friendship and a relationship that later led to a proposal of marriage. They were married on December 15, 1957. Bob and Jeri later moved to Salina, Kansas where Bob went to work at the SAC Air Force Base for General Dynamics/United Testing Laboratories. Their purpose was to test and transfer the Atlas missiles to the Air Force for use in the event of war. After completion of the project, they moved to Abilene, Texas and then back to Colorado after finishing a project at DIAS Air Force Base. In 1963, Bob went to work for Parke Davis Pharmaceutical Company, with his first location being Cheyenne, Wyoming. He traveled Wyoming and parts of Nebraska. In 1967, Parke Davis transferred Bob to Boulder, CO. His responsibilities expanded with doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and large chain stores. At the same time, Bob joined the Boulder Reserve Police Department. He was trained, certified, and served as a member, and then became Chief for a total of 10 years of service. In 1982, Bob was transferred to Boise. He and Jeri picked Meridian for their new home. When they arrived in Meridian, they drove through downtown Meridian on a very brisk, snowy night. Bob said, "Jeri, I will be Mayor of this town someday." Upon Bob's retirement from Parke Davis, he returned to Boise State University to see a second degree in Political Science and Public Administration. He graduated with a BA Degree in May of 1992. At the same time, Bob had set the wheels in motion to run for City Council and was elected to a four year term from 1992-1995. Bob's first assignment under former Mayor Grant Kingsford was as Fire Commissioner. There he forged a strong working relationship with the Fire Department, Kenny Bowers, and the Rural Fire Commissioners. In 1995, Bob declared his candidacy for Mayor of Meridian. He was elected to two consecutive four year terms from 1996-2004. In 2003, Bob had a stroke that ultimately ended his career as Mayor of Meridian. Bob was a member of Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge #47 in Meridian for 50 years, Meridian United Methodist Church, and El Korah Shrine. Bob is survived by his wife, Jeri; son, Greg (Lisa) with grandchildren Christina and Jeffrey of Meridian, ID; daughter, Cheri (Jeff) with grandsons Matt and Kyle of Broomfield, CO; former foreign exchange student Sven Mortberg of Stockholm, Sweden; and many family members from Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas and Washington. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Mallea for all the care he extended to Bob for many years, Dr. John Mohr, Bonnie Bentley and Rene Baker, and to Harrison's Hope Hospice who guided us through this journey. A memorial service will be held for Bob on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Meridian United Methodist Church, 240 E. Idaho Ave., Meridian, Idaho 83642. We Entrusted Robert Bob Corrie's Care To

Accent Funeral Home

A local landmark in Meridian, Accent Funeral Home has been serving the community since 1986. The business was first established with a vision to offer services in a comfortable, homelike atmosphere. This vision is reflected in our building, a Tudor-style home built in 1938 for a local postman. When remodeling the house to accommodate the funeral home, much care was taken to preserve the original architectural integrity of the building. The Accent Funeral Home holds a special relationship with the Meridian community and is sensitive to the area’s changing needs, providing service and friendship to comfort those we serve....
