"Bousquet, Dr. Robert Rene, 61, of Wakefield, RI, formerly of South Deerfield, MA, died at Rhode Island Hospital on June 15. He was the husband of Christina (George) Bousquet. He was born in Ludlow, MA, on December 24, 1944, the son of the late Rene Bousquet and Pauline (Authier) Bousquet, and he was raised in Three Rivers, MA. A graduate of Assumption College in Worcester, MA and St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Bousquet served as in intern and resident in ophthalmology in the United States Public Health Service in Staten Island, NY before moving to South Deerfield in 1974. He practiced medicine at the Greenfield Eye Center for 23 years until his retirement in 1997. He was a past president of the medical staff of the Farren Memorial Hospital, and was also on the staff of the Franklin Medical Center and the Athol Memorial Hospital. Dr. Bousquet was a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the New England Opthalmological Society. Bob became an avid fisherman following his retirement, and in 2001 he and his wife moved to the oceanside community of Wakefield, RI to better pursue his new hobby. He will always be remembered for his wonderful and inventive sense of humor. Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his three children, Matthew of Northampton, MA, Renee of New York, NY, and Kate of Easthampton, MA and by his brother David and wife Cathie Bousquet of Bondsville, MA. Calling hours are at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N.Main St., on Monday June 19 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at St. Anne’s Church, Main St., Three Rivers, MA on Tuesday June 20th at 10:00 a.m. For those wishing, you may gather at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the MA Lions Eye Research Fund, P.O. Box 6050, New Bedford, MA 02742-6050. "
