Robert Wellman Buck

Robert Wellman Buck passed away on February 16, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Family and friends were with him throughout this difficult and painful journey. He had just celebrated his 88th birthday and received a special visit from Father Relihan. Robert was born in Stockton, California on January 27, 1934. He was an only child. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1955 and received an honorary discharge in 1957. During that time, he met Judy Weber and they were married in November of 1956 and started their family. He worked 46 years at the local Ione Plants as a heavy equipment operator. Buck enjoyed spending time with his family and friends while camping, playing horseshoes and barbecuing. He also enjoyed Bloody Mary's and cards on Sundays. Besides spending time with his family, Buck's favorite pastime was watching television, including football, golf, Nascar and the cooking shows. He was also very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and he was happiest when spending time with them. Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Ila and Wellman, his wife of almost 50 years, Judy, his grandson, Jeffrey McInturff and his brother-in-law, Russell Gasaway. Buck is survived by his children, Ken (Sharon) Buck of Stockton, Rodney (Tammy) Buck of Ione, Janet (George) Laine of Ione, and Colleen (Jim) McInturff of Lockeford. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Erin, Jaime, Melissa, Clifton, Johnathan, Rebecca, Daniel, and Curtis, his 18 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
