Robert Burt
January 8th, 1945 - June 17th, 2014
Robert Lynne (Bob) Burt, 69, of Cocoa Beach passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at home w1th family by his side. He was born in, Boston, Massachusetts, on January, 8 1945, to Kathlyn and Robert Frank Burt. Bob graduated from Marengo High School in Marengo, Illinois and received a Bachelor's of Science in Business from Eastern Illinois University in 1968. Shortly after, he married Nancy Swearingen and moved to Florida to attend Stetson University and received his Master's in Business Administration in 1973. He now was on his way to spending the rest of his life on the Space Coast with his wife and three children while working in Marketing all around the South, eventually landing for good in Cocoa Beach in 1986. Unfortunately, Bob and Nancy divorced a few years later and he took charge of raising his three teenage children as a single Father. As years passed, Bob became known as a fun loving member of the community and could frequently be found hanging out with friends at Jonathan's Pub. An advocate for living life to the fullest, he was always conscientiously trying to help others be true to themselves and to do good by drawing from his own personal experiences in life's challenges. Bob is survived by his beloved, devoted Mother, Kathlyn Burt, 90, of whom he lived with in Cocoa Beach. He is also survived by his three children; Robert Burt and wife Dawn, of Gulf Breeze, FL; Amanda Winter and husband Danon, of Jacksonville, F~ Laura Sallas and husband Kelly, ofSt. Augustine, FL; eight grandchildren; Hali, Hayden, and Harmah Burt; Sarah, Christian, and Ashlynne Winter; Juliana and Marion Sallas (who lovingly named him Grumpy instead of Grandpa); nephew Matthew Page; niece Diana Page. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Frank Burt in April of 1990; and sister, Judith Burt Page in July of2010. A gathering of family, friends and acquaintances was held at Jonathan's Pub in Cocoa Beach at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 19th. All who were present were invited to raise their glass in a farewell toast in remembering all the lives he touched and be witness to heart-felt sentiments for a gentleman to never be forgotten.
