Robert D Chagnon

Robert D. Chagnon of Oldsmar, Florida died on December 29th, 2022 at his home with his loving wife, Carol, by his side at the age of 82. Born on February 10th, 1940 in Montague, Mass. He was the son of Valerian and Lea Chagnon. He grew up in Turners Falls, Mass and graduated from Turners Falls High School. After serving in the National Guard, Robert started a construction business with his wife, Carol, and built many homes in Franklin County. In 1976, he moved with his family to Florida and operated a RV service business with his wife at his side. Robert enjoyed many outdoor activities including swimming with his children, playing golf, gardening, and playing cards with his wife and friends. He spent many summers in his favorite vacation spot, Maggie Valley, NC. Here he enjoyed watching the Elk on a daily basis, touring through the blue ridge mountains, and meeting new friends. Robert and Carol were about to celebrate 56 years of marriage and had a full life of adventure and love. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Carol, children Chris Chagnon of Maggie Valley, NC, Gary (Kara) Chagnon of Kingston, Ga., Julie (Debra) Denton of Davis, California, and predeceased daughter Susie Buckley of Holiday, Fl., siblings Jeanette Sikora of Turners Falls, Ma., Helen Pearson of Turners Falls, Ma. and Jeanne Pelletier of Greenfield, Ma., as well as 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Robert was known to many as Bob and Donny. He will be greatly missed for his fun and caring spirit that was present throughout his life with family and friends.
