Robert Thomas Clayburn
February 13th, 1949 - September 26th, 2014
Robert Thomas Clayburn, 65, of Briar Hill, passed away peacefully at his daughter's home in Rochester, NY after a long illness. Born February 13, 1949 in Amsterdam, New York he was the son of Anne Sirotick Clayburn and the late Thomas Clayburn. Bob grew up and lived in Palatine Bridge, graduating from Canajoharie High School in 1967. He then attended HVCC graduating in 1969 with a degree in Recreation Supervision. He later attended SUNY Brockport receiving his BS in Physical Education in 1977. Moving to Rochester, NY in 1970, he was employed by UPS, Coldwell Banker, and IMPCO. Bob returned to his home town to open Uncle Bunk's Restaurant in 1996. He was also employed by Guilford Mills in Cobleskill and Quantd's in Amsterdam until retiring 2010 due to ill health. He moved back to Rochester to reside with his daughter and her family in 2012. Bob found great joy in attending and cheering on his grandchildren's soccer games and other sports competitions. He was an avid fan of NASCAR car racing and professional football. He loved Classic Cars, listening to blues music, golfing, playing roulette and being outside. Besides his father he was predeceased by his daughter, Staff Sgt. Emily Elizabeth Clayburn USAF. Survivors include his mother; Anne Clayburn of Palatine Bridge, NY; brothers Mark of Palatine Bridge, NY and Paul of Canajoharie, NY; daughter, Barbra Bianchi and her husband Guy of Rochester and two grandchildren, Jack and Katherine Bianchi; many nieces and one nephew, and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to the Visiting Nurse Foundation, 2180 Empire Blvd. Webster, NY 14580 (specify "Hospice Care" in memo).
