Robert K. Culver

Mr. Robert K. Culver, age 86, formerly of Gloversville, died Wednesday morning, October 31, 2012 at Vermont Veteran's Home, Bennington, VT. He was born December 13, 1925 in Gloversville, NY, the son of the late Kenneth and Nellie Smith Culver. He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Bataan from 1943 to 1946. Robert was employed at Robison & Smith Laundry for many years and at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home in Gloversville until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion Posts in Gloversville, where he was a former member of the Honor Guard and was instrumental in the fundraising and construction of the Veteran's Memorial Monument on Kingsboro Avenue in Gloversville. He enjoyed spending time with his pets and riding his lawn tractor along with maintaining his yard. Robert was married on January 25, 1946 to Anna Van Natter who died January 29, 2008. He is survived by two children: Gary R. Culver, Sr. Joanne of Gloversville and Carol A. Bunce of Poultney, VT; three brothers: Eugene Culver Sherry, George Culver and Francis Culver; four grandchildren: Barbara Betit Steven, Kelly-Jo Frasier Tim, Karla Arell Erick and Gary R. Culver, Jr. Jessica and ten great-grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by a brother and sister: Don Culver and Phyllis Morrison. The family will receive relatives and friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, November 4 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to in lieu of flowers to the James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
