Robert Dathan Darby, Jr.
March 2nd, 1967 - August 22nd, 2024
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Robert Dathan Darby, Jr., a man of honor, dedication, and heartfelt compassion. Dathan was born on March 2, 1967, in Shelby County, Kentucky, and passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville having attained the age of 57. Dathan, affectionately known to many, leaves behind a remarkable legacy marked by his generous spirit, kind heart, ambitious pursuits, and unwavering honesty. He was the son of Patricia (Thacker) Darby and the late Robert “Bob” Dathan Darby, a devoted, loving, caring husband to Ashley Nicole Morgan Darby for 10 years, and a loving father to his son, Patrick Logan Darby (Leah Tenorio), and his daughter, Morgan Elaine Slone. He is survived by his sister, Martha Bowen, and two grandchildren, Brandon Slone and Emma Slone and many beloved aunts and cousins. His educational journey was distinguished, beginning at the Virginia Military Institute and advancing to the University of Kentucky—a testament to his commitment to personal excellence. Dathan's career was marked by his steadfast dedication. He devoted 31 years to the Die & Stamping department at Toyota, where he was respected as a skilled and reliable professional. Beyond his industrial career, Dathan served as a preacher at the Van Buren Church of Christ, touching many lives with his words of faith and encouragement. A man of diverse interests, Dathan found tranquility in fishing, joy on the golf course, and delight in grilling out. His green thumb was evident in his bountiful garden. An avid traveler, Dathan embraced the rich experiences of exploring countries beyond his own, and he was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dathan's life was a mosaic of integrity, generosity, and kindness. His presence enriched the lives of everyone he knew, fostering a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by his family, friends, and community. A Celebration of Life Service to honor and remember Dathan Darby, Jr. will be announced at a later date.
