Robert Francis DeLisle, Sr.

Robert Francis De Lisle, Sr. of Edmonds, Washington, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at age 85. Bob was born October 11, 1925, in Portageville, Missouri, to George and Ella De Lisle. He was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from St. Peters High School in Jefferson City, Missouri. During WWII, he joined the navy. His sea duty was aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid as Yeoman 2C. Robert earned the Purple Heart for a wound received when his ship was struck by enemy aircraft during the Philippines Liberation campaign.In August of 1946, Bob married Mary Barton in San Francisco, California. They had five children.The family moved to Washington in 1962. Bob was active in Boy Scouts and a wide variety of family activities. For a number of years he owned his own furniture refinishing business in Edmonds. Bob then worked as a refinisher for Frederick and Nelson, from which he retired.Robert is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter Cathleen Abramoski (Robert); sons, Robert (Kimberly), Thomas (Melinda), John (Sharon), Joseph; 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.Rosary and Funeral Mass were held at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Edmonds, Washington, where Robert was a devout parish member. Interment at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, Washington.
