Memorial

Robert W. Dotson Robert Willis Dotson, father, husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend left the confines of this world on February 19, 2016. Rob is survived by Sandy Dotson and their three cherished children, Haley, Jered and Matthew and his son-in-law Michael and grandchildren Colton and Porter. The family resides in Eugene, Oregon together in the comfort of each other. He is also survived by his brother Fred who resides in Eagle Point, Oregon and his sister Julie, who lives in McKenzie Bridge, Oregon. Rob was the family hero and care taker. His favorite words were, “Life is good”, and he meant it. There was never room for sadness as long as the oceans, lakes and streams were filled with fish and he had a loved one by his side. He knew all there was to know about fishing, hunting, picking mushrooms and finding arrow heads just to name a few. He appreciated all that nature had to offer and found undying optimism in life. He was unfailingly astonished by the stars and the trees. When any of us needed an ear or a hand he was the first one there and he always made things better. There is no doubt that he will remain with us through hard times, but he will also be there to celebrate all the joys we have to come. Rob was raised in Eugene, Oregon. He was a devoted son to his parents Willy and Pearl Dotson, who are no doubt holding him close right now. He loved his ancestors, his grandparents, great aunts and uncles and his own aunts and uncles. He was inspired by their values, their strength and their closeness. He was an amazing friend to his brother and sister. He made sure they stayed young and connected to all this world has to offer. He talked and talked for countless hours with his siblings about everything in life from kids to politics to gardening. He was a brilliant man with great devotion to morality, spirituality and all things current. Rob’s cousins were important to him too and he was the glue that kept us in touch. He was devoted to his friends and they to him. They will hold him dear for many years to come. Rob graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor degree in Parks and Recreation. The Oregon Ducks were his passion. He knew every athlete, every sport, men’s and women’s alike. His enthusiasm and/or disappointment during a game time were legend. He sent the dogs under the bed and the neighbors indoors whenever the ducks played. His wardrobe, car and home were generously adorned with emblems of his favorite team. Rob was a proud 3rd generation lineman, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather before him. His worth ethic was an inspiration. As a union rep, he worked diligently to maintain the honor of his work and the future of those in the trade. He began his career at Mid-State Electric in La Pine and retired from Eugene Water and Electric Board in Eugene. He cared deeply for his peers. Most importantly, Rob was an unbelievable father. He kept his children close to him at all times. He lived and breathed their successes and mishaps. He was so proud of the people they became. They were his best friends and constant companions. He will be by their side, in their heads and close to their hearts forever. 'Til the end of time, campfire stories of My dad, My brother, My Uncle, and My friend will remind us all that “life is good”. On Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 am the Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Jude Catholic Church with a reception to follow. The Committal will be at 1:45 pm at the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery. Services entrusted to Poole-Larsen Funeral Home. Please access the online obituary at www. musgroves.com.
