Robert Duff

Live video will start Sunday @ 3:00 PM Robert Lester Duff, 81, of Merritt Island, FL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geraldine, and their children Lynn Bethune (Scott) of Houston, TX; and Ann Duff of Rockledge, FL. Robert had varied career and life experiences. He started his career in the United States Air Force and fought in the Korean War, ending his stint in the Air Force as an air traffic controller. After the military service, he was on the ground floor of the digital age and worked in almost all areas of the computer science field across the southeast United States. He ended his career in 1994 at Lockheed Space Operations Company as a senior software engineer. Robert was also very active in the community. He joined a Masonic Lodge in Okinawa in 1961 and was an active member of the Merritt Island Lodge 353, serving as Worshipful Master in 1998. He was a Shriner at AZAN Temple in Melbourne and drove sick and injured children to and from the Shriners Hospital in Tampa. He was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AMVETS, in addition to being a Rotarian, serving as President of the Merritt Island Rotary Club in 1981. Robert was also involved in sports as a Little League baseball umpire and Pee Wee football coach, as well as an active golfer. He also managed to fit in getting his Real Estate license and his pilot’s license, and volunteered for many charities. He was a generous and loyal friend to all. A memorial service will be held at 3p, Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 5400 Village Drive, Viera, FL 32955.
