Robert Wayne Fryer

April 25th, 1940 - April 24th, 2012

Robert Wayne (Bob) Fryer, born April 25, 1940, in Portland, Oregon, passed away April 24, 2012, in Beaverton, OR, from complications of liver cancer. He was the son of the late Robert S. Fryer and Theresa L. (Wunderlich) Fryer. Bob is survived by sisters Kathleen A. Fryer, Jeannine M. Zachary and brother-in-law Richard Zachary; nephews Darell New of Sahuarita, AZ; Larry and Mike New of Goldendale, WA; John New of Beaverton, OR; and cousins Alan (Coreen) Linn of Anderson, SC; John (LeAnn) Wunderlich of Portland, OR; Freddy (Mary Anne) Wunderlich of Oregon City, OR; Melvin (Barbra) Ambrose of Maupin, OR, and many others. After graduating from Beaverton High School, Bob worked at the family business, Fryer's Quality Pie and Coffee Shop on N.W. 23rd in Portland, until 1964; then as a lithographer. He joined the West Slope Volunteer Fire Department in 1960, hired on full-time as a Fire Dispatcher at the Beaverton Fire Department in 1966, and retired from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue in 1995. Bob’s many interests included hunting, fishing, shooting, and photography. He became interested in dowsing and how we perceive our environment in 1976. Meeting earthquake-sensitive people while Mt. St. Helens was erupting led to the in-depth study of earthquake prediction. His website was earthquakewarning.org, and his license plate read "EQ WARN". Reading of the use of dowsing in the Viet Nam war to locate enemy tunnels, he began to collect information on published occurrences of ESP in combat. Long interested in subtle energies and their application for healing, Bob had recently manifested abilities as a healing facilitator for others, working mostly with abused women. One of the high points of recent years was a retreat he attended in Sedona, Arizona, in April of 2010 where his ability to help others release and relieve past trauma first became evident. He remained in contact with many of his friends from that retreat until his death. Bob was a member of the NW Society of Dowsers, American Society of Dowsers, Tri-County Gun Club, and the American Rifle Association. He was a past member of MENSA. Since his retirement he traveled across the country and into Canada to attend many conferences featuring cutting-edge scientific research into the powers of the mind and the growing convergence of “psi” and “Sci”-ence. A Celebration of Life Service and Reception will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living, 1040 C Ave., Lake Oswego, OR 97034. Rev. Barbara Wuest officiating. 503-570-2855

Don Haynes Former fire vol. Dist 2

I got to know Bob in the early sixties while visiting the Beaverton alarm center fire station. I continued to know and work with him when we had a call and he was dispatching. He always was a gentleman and as my good friend Nick Lambing has stated Bob always knew what he was doing,a great job well done. May God be with him as he deserves the best. I will always remember Bob Fryer.

Bob, thanks for teaching me the ropes of dispatch. I always enjoyed working along side you or the many times we "shared the air" working for different agencies but on the same net. You showed me your gift of dowsing and gold panning. Sleep well!

Having met Bob years ago at a PMUG event, I discovered you can learn a lot from quiet people who don't mingle much. His intelligence, sincerity and desire to help others grew more apparent over time. Thank you Bob, for your determination, humor and gentleness.

I remember Bob sitting in his dispatch chair, with his "card-sharp" visor on his head. He was the man in control of his corner of the world. Thanks Bob, for a job very well done.

Company officer, Beaverton Fire Dept. & TVF&R. When Bob was on the dispatch desk, we, the responding companies, always knew Bob had our back and we were confident there was someone looking out for us while dealing with emergencies. You were one of a kind!
