Never thought I'd be sitting at a computer writing the obituary of a dear friend, a husband and one who would leave the love of his life - Jerry. All good stories start with a "back in the day" and it was then that Bobby Goldfarb would meet his mate for life, Jerry Wright. Nearly six years apart they had/have so much in common that one will find it difficult to remember one without the other. If two men could be described as "Best Mates" Bob & Jerry were (and are) those two mates. They met at a time when "coming out" was not an option. Add the Vietnam war to the mix and you end up with the classic love story. Young men meet and go from being comrades in arms - to walking arm in arm - down the aisle when it finally became legal to do so in Florida. Bobby was an artist at heart. He could create an image and bring it to life. He was also one hell of an ice skater and trained other ice skaters how to skate at a time when skating was all the rage. He and Jerry traveled the world many times over using planes, trains, automobiles (and dozens of cruise ships) to get their favored destinations. Bobby could light up a room with his smile and his laugh was contagious. Those who knew him well know his birthday and those who will miss him will remember the day he died. He leaves behind a man with a full broken heart; his Jerry. Bobby will have a full military funeral on February 28th at 11:00 AM at our National Cemetery in Bushnell. We expect Patriot Guard Riders and welcome ALL to his funeral at Bushnell. His husband (who also served his country proudly) will accept Bobby's flag and salute good-bye to his husband very best friend. Robert is predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Bessie Goldfarb and his brother Walter Goldfarb. He is survived by his husband Jerry and his sister, Joyce Brodsky, from New Jersey. Bobby has many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was one of the good guys; Death Be Not Proud. Dear Jerry, My sincerest condolences on the loss of Bobby. Like Bobby, I am a Vietnam veteran. We served in an unpopular war and were sometimes reviled by fellow Americans. Unfortunately, many had confused the war with us, the warriors. I know this was hard for Bobby but he had a means of dealing with it...you! In times of strife, it is our loved ones who get us through, as you did for him. Please know how grateful I am that a veteran like Bobby had the strength to endure so much...because of you! The motto of my Service, the Marine Corps, is "Semper Fidelis" or "Always Faithful." That defines you and your love of Bobby, and his of you. Semper Fidelis, Thomas V. Draude Brigadier General USMC (Retired)
