Robert Thomas GRIFFIN
December 4th, 1931 - October 9th, 2009
ROBERT T. GRIFFIN age 77 of Jefferson passed away Friday October 9, 2009 at his home surrounded by his six children and their families. He was born December 4, 1931 in Fort Atkinson, son of the late Coleman J. and Olivia (Sauer) (Baer) Griffin. He married Catherine Marie Rupprecht on June 30, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Robert served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He had been employed at Larson Canning Company, and at Diekow Redi Mix, and Brauns Inc. in Jefferson. Robert enjoyed watching the NASCAR races, gardening, fishing, rummaging, camping, and going on bus tours. He enjoyed playing with his 15 grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson, the Knights of Columbus, the AMERICAN LEGION POST 164—REINHARDT-WINDL, and the VFW POST 3589 ENDL-GRUNNERT. He is survived by his wife Catherine of Jefferson Two daughters; Christine (Gary) Schmidt of Jefferson Theresa (Russ) Schuette of Jefferson Four sons; Ronald (Tama) Griffin of Waterloo Patrick (Sharon) Griffin of Jefferson Donald Griffin of Helenville Michael (Tina) Griffin of Jefferson Fifteen grandchildren; Ileana Schmidt, Jason (Lori) Manthe, Adam (Shannon) Griffin, Thomas, Mark, Benjamin Griffin, Crystal, Cassandra Griffin, Alyssa (Jimmie) Samuel, Angela Griffin, Kyle Schuette, Xena Griffin, Stephanie, Keith, Amy Griffin. Five great-grandchildren; Alexis Griffin, Brandon Samuel, Sebastian, Nathan, Cheyenne Manthe. Sister-in-law; Myrtle Griffin of Fort Atkinson, and sisters and brothers in-law; Sr. Celestine Rupprecht, Helen Jacobson, William Rupprecht, Joseph (Donna) Rupprecht, Margaret Wendt, Lawrence (Mary) Rupprecht, Raymond (Cheryl) Rupprecht and Robert (Nancy) Rupprecht. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is also preceded in death by his sisters; Frances Kosmicki, and Mary Lanzel and brother Coleman J. Jr. Griffin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday October 14, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating burial with Military Honors will follow in the Parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral Home in Jefferson, with a Knights of Columbus service to be held at 6:45p.m., and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. And again on Wednesday morning at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The family suggests memorial be given in Roberts memory to St. John the Baptist Catholic church or to Jefferson Rainbow Hospice.
