Robert E. Grimm, 73, died 1/12/ 2023, after struggling with Dementia. He died peacefully with his wife at his side at St. Vincent Hospital where he received excellent care. He is greatly missed by his family, friends and members of his community for his great intelligence, dry wit, deep maturity and playful manner. Bob was born to Harold and Geraldine Weaver Grimm on September 22, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was named after his uncle who was killed in combat in France in 1945. Bob was proud to have been raised in Iowa and to have graduated from Iowa State University in 1971 with a BS degree. Bob was a lover of art and music, both as a performer and listener; he was a faithful fan of the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He lived for a time in Washington State and Northern California. He eventually made his home in Santa Fe in 1988 when he married Katharine J. Lee. He established and operated Advanced Janitorial Supply until he retired in 2017. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying hiking, camping, canoeing, cycling, photography, sailing and fishing. He enjoyed cooking and fine food, and maintained his university interest in history and philosophy throughout his life. Left to celebrate his life and to mourn his passing are Katharine J. Lee, his wife of 34 years; his siblings, Jackie Svetly, Sue Thomas, Rick Grimm, Joni Perry and their families; his aunt and uncle, Gladys and Howard Grimm; along with his Itinerant Cycle Club of Iowa brothers.
