Robert Grohs

On January 12, 2016, Robert "Bob" Liston Grohs passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Bob was born on June 24, 1941, in Susanville, Ca, to Arthur and Laurabelle Grohs. Bob grew up in Susanville, attending school and graduating from Lassen High in 1959 While attending college at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Ca, Bob met the love of his life, Janie. Upon graduation, they moved to Redding, where Bob starting working as a pharmacist at Owen's Pharmacy and they started raising a family. After a few years in Redding, they moved to Chico, where Bob worked at Vitt's Pharmacy until buying Harlan's Rexall Drugstore in Oroville from the original owner. In 1978, Bob built Olive Pharmacy which he operated until his retirement in 2000. He was always grateful for these years, for this is where he met his closest friends and was able to serve his community. Sixty-Five years of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes did not stop Bob from enjoying water sports on Lake Oroville, travelling, and classic car restoration. He was a long-time member of the Golden Feather Model A club in Oroville, and passed on his love of old cars to his son. Bob is survived by wife Janie, son Jeff (Paula) Grohs of Clayton, daughter Roni (Shin) Masuda of Durham, 5 grandchildren, and brother Booty Grohs of Sparks, Nevada. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation are requested.
