Robert “Bob” Dean Hidy, 67, passed away peacefully in his home in Loveland, Colorado on Thursday, August 22, 2024. His battle with stage 4 renal carcinoma this last year and a half showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile.
Bob was born September 27, 1956 in Broken Bow Nebraska to John and Grace Hidy. He was united in marriage to Diane Hack on September 17, 1983. Bob and Diane moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1987 where they shared a beautiful life. Together they had two children, Katie Sellers and Jake Hidy, and three grandchildren: Beckett, Gunner, & Parker. Bob worked as a UPS driver where he was beloved by his many regular customers. He retired in January 2020 after 30 years of service. Bob and his son, Jake, started a handyman business, First Response Handyman, in 2020 and worked together fixing and building things for 2 years.
Bob was a loving husband, father, brother, papa and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, fishing, camping, and riding dirt bikes and side-by-sides in the mountains. When he wasn’t in the garage working on his latest project, Bob could be found fishing at one of the lakes in his neighborhood. He was a man of few words, but he had a heart of gold and would do anything for those that he loved.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 40 years Diane, and their children, Katie Sellers, and Jake (Renee) Hidy; his granddaughter, Beckett Sellers; his grandsons, Gunner Sellers and Parker Hidy; his sisters Shelly (Roger) Doud, Eva (Dwayne) Nickel-Drabek; as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Hidy, his brother Larry Hidy, his half-brother Bill Wetter, his half-sister Verena Wetter, and his brother-in-law, Butch Nickel.
Papa, we will miss you immensely. There would never be enough time with you on this earth. We find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
A celebration of life will be held at the Berthoud Recreation Center Pavilion at Waggener Farm on Saturday, September 28th from 1-3 PM. We ask that you wear plaid to the celebration in honor of Bob.
