Robert Holub

Robert Rex Holub February 20, 1919 - February 27, 2018 A man of honor, Robert R. Holub passed away in Greenwood Village, CO on February 27, 2018. Robert was born in Ravenna, Nebraska to Gus and Augusta Holub. He had one younger brother, Dale Holub. He graduated from Ravenna High School and was given this quote in his senior year book: “He has what it takes and he can take it.” After completing business college, Bob enlisted in the US Navy during WWII in 1941. He met Leona (Lee) Rocksvold in Washington DC and they were engaged before he left for service. As a naval intelligence officer, he served in Africa. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with numerous ribbons and a victory medal. Bob and his wife, Lee, lived in Greeley and Longmont, CO during their 72 year marriage. They worked together managing Firestone, Texaco Central, and Longmont Taxi. Both Bob and Lee were active members of the Elks, VFW, and the American Legion Post 32. Bob held made offices in the American Legion including that of Finance Officer, Honor Guard and Commander. Fishing and large campfires, surrounded by friends and family, were Bob's favorite pastimes at Beaver Lake. Robert is survived by his wife Lee, and daughters Ralene Gleeson, Paula Klawiter (Wig), and Joan Norblom. Five grandchildren include Brandon Gleeson (Heather), Joelle Pearson (Jared), Blaine Klawiter, Cameron Klawiter, Bryce Norblom, great grandson Cru Pearson and nephew, Dave (Linda)Holub.. We will all miss this wonderful man and will carry with us the memories and life lessons he gave us. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Longmont, CO. Cremation was entrusted to Carroll-Lewellen Funeral & Cremation Services.
