Robert "Bob" Joseph Kalafut

Robert J. Kalafut "" Gilbert, AZ Robert J. Kalafut, 76, passed away peacefully in his home June 7, 2011 with family by his side. Bob was born in Chicago, IL March 22, 1936, attended St. Rita High School in Chicago and St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN. He worked for Amoco-Chemicals Division for 25 years in Marketing and Sales Management before starting his own independent sales representative business that he operated until his retirement. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Josephine (Zubo) Kalafut and his sister Judith Ferenc. Survived by his wife of 53 years Lois (Furlong) whom the Lord brought together when they were just 18, their twelve children: Bob (Pam) of Downers Grove, IL; John (Kimberly) of Edmund, OK; Tom (Jane) of Apple Valley, MN; Bill (Jean) of Westmont, IL; Tim of Ann Arbor, MI; Jim (Cyndi) of Mabelton, GA; Dan (Lori) of Lockport, IL; Paul (Kim) of Shorewood, IL; Beth (Neal) Lilly of Glen Ellyn, IL; Dave (Tonia) of Chandler, AZ; Steven of Momence, IL; and Jennifer (John) Russell of Oakland, CA; and their 29 grandkids: Steve, Kevin, Mark, Casey, Sean, Devin, Megan, Carolyn, Cecille, Joseph, Noah, Jonah, Olivia, Matt, Chris, Kara, Chase, Logan, Nick, Tessa, Grace and Emily Kalafut, Mary and Melissa Bradford, Tim, Mike, Ryan, John, and Katherine Lilly. After raising his family in Hinsdale, IL, Bob and Lois lived in Darien, IL for 13 years before moving to Gilbert, AZ five years ago where they were members of St. Mary Magdalene Parish. Throughout his life he loved golf, travel, and photography and he was an avid bridge player. The world lost a good man when God called Bob home. But the world is better for him having been here because as a husband and father, the example he set lives through his children and others who knew him well. Robert J. Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, June 10, 2011 at St. Mary Magdalene"s Church, 2654 E. Williams Field Rd. Gilbert, AZ. Additional services will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM, Monday, June 13, 2011 at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home in Justice, Illinois. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.
