"Granby-Robert J. Landry, 74, of Batchelor St. passed away January 4, 2009 at the Holyoke Soldier's Home. Born August 2, 1934 in Chicopee, MA, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Nadeau) Landry. Robert was a lifelong resident of Granby and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was Commander of the American Legion Post 266 in Granby and was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary. Robert worked in various places as a cook and retired from Umass after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed darts, horseshoes, cards, deep sea fishing, ice fishing and going to Foxwoods. Robert will be greatly missed by his wife of 47 years, Stella H. (Fitts) along with his children, Robert and Patricia of S. Deerfield, Kim M. Fortier and Keith, and Eric G. Landry all of Granby along with one granddaughter, Amber Lyn Landry of S.Hadley. Robert also leaves a brother Gerald and his wife Estelle of Belchertown, and sister Claire Fornier and her husband Roger of Granby along with extended family and in-laws. Robert was predeceased by his brother Roger. All services will be privately held with the family at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, MA 01040. "
