August 16th, 2024

In Loving Memory

Robert “Bob” N. LeBoeuf, adventurer and businessman extraordinaire, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 16th, 2024. He was surrounded by family, friends, and his loyal canine companion, Winchester. Prior to his passing, Bob was lovingly cared for by his wife, Jeannie, and a host of Lutheran Hospice nurses and staff.

Bob was born on February 15th, 1939, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. After graduating from New Bedford High School (Massachusetts) in 1956, Bob attended the University of Massachusetts while working part-time at his father’s auto mechanic establishment. He graduated in 1961, earning the title of Textile Engineer. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1964, playing his accordion in the U.S. Air Force Band. During his employment at Uniroyal as a Research and Development Engineer from 1964 to 1974, Bob obtained a U.S. Patent for Under Ground Conveyor Belting in 1967. He worked as a Marketing Manager until 1984, when he accepted the position of Vice President of Laurel Textiles in Skowhegan, Maine. While residing in Maine, Bob acquired a Real Estate Brokers License from the University of Maine at Orno, Maine. He then moved on to Pittsfield Weaving (Pittsfield, New Hampshire), where he served as Resident Engineer until 1989. Bob then founded his own textile company, R.N. LeBoeuf Enterprises, LLC, which focused on industrial textile sales. He served as the President until his death. Bob was very proud of his company and worked tirelessly to ensure it flourished.

Bob’s adventure pursuits were endless. From 1964 to date, he was a professional musician and member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 447-704, Savannah, GA. He loved playing his accordion, and did so frequently. He became a licensed SCUBA diver in 1986 in Booth Bay, Maine. From 1989 until his death, he maintained a 100 Ton Merchant Marine Captain license. He thoroughly enjoyed making trips to Charleston, S.C. to maintain and improve his cherished sailboat, the SeaScape. Bob was a private pilot and certified glider pilot. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, as well as the Elks Lodge. He was an avid collector of antiques and enjoyed attending auctions to add to his collections.

Bob is survived by his wife and companion of 24 years, Jeannie C. Austin of the home; two daughters, Christina M. LeBoeuf of Columbia and Jennifer R. Tharp (husband Ty) of Irmo; three grandchildren (Ryan, Grace, and Lily); and the mother of his children (Jeanne Shope LeBoeuf) of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents (Beulah N. and Alphonse L. LeBoeuf); and loyal canine companions (Duke, Teacup, and Taco).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services with US Air Force honors on August 20th, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, PO Box 805 White Rock, SC 29177.
