Robert "Bob" Lundgaard

No visitation Robert E. "Bob" Lundgaard was born on November 6, 1932 in La Conner, Washington to Ruby and Ingvald Lundgaard. He suffered from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Bob graduated from La Conner High School in 1950 and Washington State University in 1954. Bob and Laura Wilhite were married on September 10, 1954, just prior to Bob starting law school at the University of Washington. Laura worked at the Seattle Times, putting Bob through law school. Bob’s first position was as an Assistant Attorney General, where he served as a trial attorney for 11 years. In November of 1969, Bob joined the downtown firm of Pebbles, Swanson, and Lindskog. After 31 years in private practice, Bob returned to the Attorney General’s office, retiring in June of 2003. Bob and Laura enjoyed cruises and traveling to Washington State University football and bowl games. Bob was an avid golfer for many years and later played cards and billiards. Bob enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Bob was active in community organizations and continued to serve on several Boards at the time of his last illness. Bob was active in the Washington State University Alumni Association and the Athletic Foundation. He was a past President of the Washington State University Alumni Association. While two of his children, Jeff and Cindy, were attending Washington State University, he was chosen “Dad of the Year”. Bob was also the recipient of the Alumni Association’s highest honor, “The Alumni Achievement Award”. Bob was an Elder in the United Churches and served as the Treasurer until recently. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bob’s name to the Washington State University Alumni Association, P.O. Box 646150, Pullman, Washington, 99164; or to the Memorial Fund at United Churches, 110 11th Avenue S.E., Olympia, Washington, 98501. A celebration of life will be held at the United Churches, 110 11th Avenue S.E., Olympia, Washington, 98501, on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Olympia Country and Golf Club, 3636 Country Club Drive N.W., Olympia, Washington, 98502.
