Robert F. Maher

"Granby, Robert F. Maher, 85, died peacefully Friday, December 28 at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Northampton on October 9, 1927, he was the son of William and Ellen (Carney) Maher. He had lived on Massasoit Street in Northampton for many years before moving to Granby 15 years ago. He worked as a nurse's aide at Leeds VA Hospital for many years before retiring. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife Beverly (Wood) Maher, along with his 2 daughters, Kerry Loux and her husband Douglas of Florence, and Christine Langlois and her husband Lawrence of Holyoke, along with 3 sisters Alice Brady and Katherine Murphy of Florence and Margaret Boulanger of Westfield. He also leaves 3 grandchildren, Eliana, Katherine and Mary Ann. Two sons, Steven and Timothy, along with siblings John, Eleanor Orchia, Lillian Niedzwiecki, and grandson Nathaniel Langlois preceded him in death. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Jan. 2 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte. 116). A Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church (please meet directly at the church), Belchertown followed by burial in Mass. Veterans Cemetery, Agawam.
