Robert C. McDaniel

MCDANIEL, Robert C. 94, of Land O Lakes, Florida passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018. He was born in Arlanda, North Carolina, resided many years in Norfolk, Virginia, and moved to Florida in 2005. He served in active duty during WWII in the United States Army and retired in 1979 from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he had worked as a Shipfitter for over 35 years. ‘Mac’ was a Mason and a Shriner for over 30 years and was a member of the Khedive Temple Fire Brigade Unit in Chesapeake, Virginia. An avid fisherman, golfer, and Duckpin bowler, Mac was known for his crowd-pleasing cooking skills (the best she-crab soup), and his love of poker, cribbage, and Jack Daniels. Many neighbors and family members enjoyed his annual St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage feasts, and his pre-parade Bloody Mary’s were a staple for many a Shriner parade. During his later years, he spent much of his time building wooden model ships and would often boast that he had given away more than 60 ships to his family and friends. Mac is preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Peggy McDaniel. He is survived by two sons, William Glenn McDaniel (Pat Boswell) of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Robert McDaniel Jr. (Alex Gregory) of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; and one brother, Fred McDaniel of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two nephews, Edward Fisher and Scott McDaniel of VA Beach, VA; one niece, Lynn Ischep (Gotfried) of Chesapeake, VA.
