"Robert M. Moynihan, 56, of Taylor St., died Wednesday, March 22 at home surrounded by his family. Born on April 27, 1949 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Walter “Hap”and Ruth (Habel) Moynihan. Robert was raised in Springfield and later relocated to Carmel Valley, CA where he lived for 25 years before returning to South Hadley in 2001. While in California, Robert worked for Monterey Bay Aquarium for 11 years as head of the maintenance department, and also pursued his passion for music by writing and producing his art, along with playing professionally in the area. He performed weekly at the Pioneer Art Center of Easthampton (PACE) with his music partner. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Martha (Taaffe) in 2001 and a brother Michael in 1982. He will be sadly missed by his sister Kathy Oparowski and her husband Ronald of S. Hadley, a brother Walter and his wife Dawn of Belvedere, NB, along with his two stepsons Robert Zollen and his wife Lisa of CA and Richard Zollen and his wife Anna Marie of CA and his 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves his mother-in-law Bernie VanOstrand of Monterey, CA, his favorite nephew Ronald Oparowski, Jr., and Tiff Walton, a niece Lorna Moynihan, his uncle William Moynihan of Holyoke, and many cousins. Bobby also leaves his good friends Bruce King, Donna & Bill McKinnon, and many friends from Hungry Hill along with his wonderful Hospice caregivers, Sheila, Judy, Linda, and Johanna. Services will be Tuesday beginning at 9:15 am from the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte. 116) followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will follow in Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke. Calling hours are Monday from 4:00-6:30 followed by a Celebration of Life Service and Video Tribute at 6:30pm. Donations may be made in his memory to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA, 01102 or to PACE 41 Union St., Easthampton, 01027.
