Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson

Nitardy Funeral Homes - Fort Atkinson

We have proudly served the Southern Wisconsin community for over 90 years, when Hilmar A. Nitardy opened his first funeral home in the area. In 1984, his son Russ knew it was time to offer professional, compassionate services to the Fort Atkinson community, and we constructed a new funeral home to address its needs. We feel so fortunate to be a part of the community, and have grown our family alongside the community for three generations.

How did you meet Robert?

I first met Bob in the early 1970’s when my sister was dating him. The obituary is “spot on” as to who he was. Bob was, indeed, intelligent, kind, generous, an adventure seeker, and had an appreciation for all the finer things that life could bring. When my husband and I married in 1976, Bob volunteered to be our photographer and gift us with a photo album of pictures. What a wonderful gift! In our middle-age to later years, I always looked forward to his newsy personal Christmas card and letter, which recounted his many travels around the US and beyond. Rich and I send our deepest condolences to your family. I know he will be missed. Beth (Soderlund) Henrion

How did you meet Robert?

My deep condolences to the family of Bob Nankervis. I knew Bob several years ago while belonging to DPMA (Data Processing Management Association). And, I have known him for many, many years. I was working at Northern Michigan University and he at Cleveland Cliffs, and we did a lot of traveling everywhere together as members of this organization. He was a great partner and friend, always willing to give me a hand. He helped me move from an abusive relationship and counseled me for a long time, insuring me that I was doing the right thing. Last I contacted him was perhaps a year to 2 ago when I sent him a letter at his place of residence in Wisconsin and he responded. I was hoping to hear from him again, never realizing he was in bad health. I will remember him forever and will miss his continual friendliness. It would have been nice to have been able to meet with him if he had ever returned to the Ishpeming area. I was hoping he would make a short trip sometime. He was a wonderful, generous person, and I really liked him as a dear friend. I was quite shocked and very, very sad to see his obituary in The Mining Journal. My sincere sympathy to all of you. May you remember all of the happy and good times you had with Bob. I know I will. We had many. And, may God bless and comfort all of you and give you peace.
