Robert Frank Olson
January 3rd, 1940 - July 12th, 2016
Robert F. Olson of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Casselton, Davenport and Fargo, ND area went peacefully to his heavenly home on July 12, 2016. He was born on January 3, 1940 to Leroy and Mary (Turchin) Olson. He attended school in Fargo and Casselton, ND. He was a self-taught man, learning by experience. He excelled in math skills and put that to good use, becoming a general contractor. During his spare time, he and his wife would design and build family homes.His sons would help in the construction process, gaining invaluable knowledge from him. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as cooking and baking. He developed his own BBQ sauce, but never wrote the recipe down; it was a little of this and a little of that. He enjoyed his family and loved to tease and tug on the kids' ears when they were little. He married Annette Kapaun in 1958. He married Renae (Chartier Paulson) in 1968. She survives along with sons Bradley (Theresa) of Las Vegas, NV, Tim (Kerry) of Thornton, CO, Rick (Wendy) Paulson of Hudson, WI, as well as daughters Jacqueline (Wayde) Bell of Platteville, CO; Bernadine (Dean) Newman of Missouri, Theresa (Robert) Popielarski of Thornton, CO; sisters LaVonne (Don) Peterson of Nelson, MN, Patti (Robert) Gross of Carrington, ND; 7 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren,along with many special nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Donald and Ronald, parent in-laws Les and Louise Loberg, Ted Chartier, grandparents, brother in laws Wayne Chartier, Tim Chartier, Robert Roebuck, and special niece Cindy Trautman. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
