Robert "Robin" Lee Owens, Jr.

Robert Lee Owens, Jr. (Robin), 67, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at home in Lexington, SC. He was born on May 22, 1955 in Gadsden, AL, and was a graduate of Auburn University. Robert moved to Columbia, SC following his graduation where he met and eventually married is beloved wife of more than 40 years, Kathy, in 1982. He served in the Air National Guard during Operation Desert Storm in the Gulf War. He had a love of history, Auburn football, spending time with his family and friends, and was especially proud of his five grandchildren. Robert is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Matthew Owens of Tallassee, AL and Andrew Owens of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Nancy Swafford of Anniston, AL and Deborah Collins of Sardis City, AL; daughter-in-law, Lindsey Owens and grandchildren, Brooks, Beckham and Ellis; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Owens and grandsons, Elliott and Reece; and several nieces and nephews. He was a friend to all, and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the USO (United Service Organizations) in Robert’s honor.
