Robert P. Paine
August 1st, 1924 - June 21st, 2017
Mr. Robert P. Paine passed away on June 21, 2017 at Brookdale Countryside, Clearwater, Florida. Born in Schenectady, NY on August 1, 1924 he was the son of Prescott W. and Grace Eldred Paine. Robert entered into the apprentice program at GE prior to joining the Army in 1943. He served in the Normandy Campaign, Norther Europe Campaign and Central Europe Campaign receiving four bronze stars. After the war, he worked for Anderson Instrument Company where he retired as Vice President. He then decided to use his watchmaking skills and opened Paine Jewelers in Fultonville. Robert was an avid skeet and trap shooter. He was a life member of the NRA, Pine Tree Rifle Club and the Ilion Fish and Game Club. He was also a 50 year member of the Oriental Shrine and Masonic Lodge. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy Anderson Paine on August 31, 1990; and his brother Frank on December 4, 1968. Survivors include four nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 2p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning at 1p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Maple Avenue Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Pine Tree Rifle Club, 419 Johnson Ave, Gloversville, NY 12078.
