Robert Preston Pond
January 25th, 1948 - December 27th, 2011
Robert (Bob) Preston Pond of Merritt Island passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. He was born on January 25, 1948 to Preston & Dorothy of Las Cruces, New Mexico. His interest in technology started early, as a young man he built a computer that is now in the Boston Computer Museum, which he received an Honorable Award. Bob served in the Navy on board the U. S. S. Ulysses S. Grant Submarine as a Petty Officer Electronics Technician 3rd Class. He loved boating and being on or near the water. In the early 1980's he moved to Brevard County, and was employed by Sperry Rand Co., which is now Lockheed Martin, on the U.S.N.S. Waters. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Barbara Ann Pond, his sister Linda Fox and husband Cary of Conroe TX., and their daughter Kim and extended Family and Friends. A Celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday January 20th at 1pm at Beckman- Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. Afterward Family & Friends are invited back to the Pond's Residence.
