Robert A. Prouty

Robert (Bob) A. Prouty, 80, of Yuba City, CA, passed away July 14, 2016, after a short illness. Bob was born on August 31, 1935 in Modesto, CA. He was a graduate of Stockton High School and Stockton College. He also served in the US Army and Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Maria Prouty of Stockton, CA. Bob is survived by his wife Joan Hanson Prouty and her children Jill Garoin (Larry) of Nashville, Pamela Shockley (Brian) of Bakersfield, Tim Hanson (Lynn) of Auburn and Mark Hanson, deceased, (Rhonda) of Chico and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His former wife Marilyn Prouty and their children Gus Prouty (Cathy) of Lodi, Gordon Prouty (Nada) of Abu Dhabi, and Beth Prouty Albiani (Dennis) of Elk Grove. Bob followed his father into the lumber business and began working on a logging crew in Northern California at 16 years old, determined to learn the lumber business from beginning to end. And he did just that and over the course of his career worked in the manufacturing, sales management, and ownership of various lumber related companies from California to Texas. Bob had a great many friends in the industry, community and from wherever he went. Bob enjoyed his family most of all and spent a great amount of time making sure he was at all the sporting events, plays, graduations, birthday parties, anniversaries and anything else that involved the family. In his earlier years he was an avid water skier, fisherman, hunter and softball player. He also enjoyed golfing, restoring cars and boats, traveling and rooting for the San Francisco Giants. Services will be held at the Sutter Cemetery Memorial Building, 7200 Butte Ave., Sutter, CA 95982 on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:00 am
