November 7th, 1927 - February 14th, 2024
Robert "Bob" Solberg, a cherished member of the Waukesha community, passed away on February 14, 2024, at the age of 96. Born and raised in Menomonie Wisconsin, Bob was a dedicated individual who left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Bob attended UW-Stout, where he graduated in 1951. During his time at Stout, he met the love of his life, Lois (nee Jensen), who also graduated from Stout in the same year. Together, they began their teaching careers in Ellendale, Minnesota, where they spent five fulfilling years before relocating to Waukesha. Bob devoted 31 years to teaching primarily drafting, leaving an indelible mark on countless students throughout his career. His commitment to education was further exemplified by earning his Master’s degree from Stout in 1966. Bob was known for his exceptional handiness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His favorite activity was spending time with his family including many family trips to Florida. An avid sports enthusiast, he passionately cheered for many local and professional teams, bringing joy to those around him with his infectious spirit. After retiring from teaching, Bob served as Facilities Manager at St. Mark's Church for over 22 years. Bob is survived by his loving children, Sandra Solberg and Lora (Jim) Prew, as well as his daughter-in-law Sue Solberg (Jeff) and his grandchildren, Eric (Carly) Solberg and Ryan (Lexie) Solberg, and great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Zodi, Cruz, Sloane, and Sadie Solberg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and a multitude of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen, his beloved wife Lois, and their son Alan. Services to honor Bob's life will be held at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church (424 Hyde Park Ave, Waukesha, WI 53188) on February 23, 2024. Visitation will commence at 10 am and continue until the start of the Funeral Service at 11 am. Pastor Sarah Gillespie will officiate the service.
