"Robert M. Stapley, 84, passed away December 19, 2019 at the Holyoke Soldiers' Home. He was born on January 5, 1935 in Holyoke, MA to George W. and Olga I. (Stimpson) Stapley. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army in Germany from 1957-1959. He retired from South Hadley Electric Light Department as a line foreman after working for 53 years. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved dogs. He was a life member and past president of the South Hadley Sportsman's Club. He was also a past member of the Conservation Committee. Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Donna M. (Arny) Stapley, four children, Sharon Labarre and husband Jim, Sandra Stapley, Carlene Stapley and George Stapley. He also leaves three grandchildren, Miranda, Nicholas and Rachel, a sister Eunice Chadwick and his mother in law Lorraine Arny. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother George Stapley. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 pm with military honors to close at 6:00 p.m at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Holyoke Soldier's Home, 110 Cherry St., Holyoke, MA. For more information please visit www.beersandstory.com"
