Robert Coleman Stubblefield
June 11th, 1936 - December 31st, 2017
Robert (Bob) Stubblefield passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on December 31 , 2017 surrounded by his family at Mckee Medical Center in Loveland. Bob was born in Bakersfield California to Mildred and Robert Stubblefield. He has three sisters, Dorothy Stancliff of Montana, Trudy Hylton of California and Lois Hood of New Hampshire. Bob grew up in Kernville California and after graduating high school he enlisted into the Army where he was stationed in France with a transportation unit. After his time in the military, he became a dynamite demolitionist and foreman for Yeager Construction in Riverside California. He retired after 36 years with the company. In 1964 Bob married his first love Sharon and they had two children; Michael Robert and Carie Lee. In 1989 he married his second love Billie, gained five more wonderful children and was with her until her untimely passing. He loved spending time with his family and friends reminiscing about his days working on the farm hauling hay with his dad, land surveying in the Sierra Mountains on snowshoes, meeting Natalie Wood in Kernville California filming a scene for a movie, meeting Red Skelton on a highway construction site in California and meeting Dale Evans in a hospital in San Bernardino California where he was an inpatient after rolling his work truck down the side of Big Bear Mountain. Bob lived his life to the fullest and always had a story or joke to share. Bob was an extremely humble man and was always there to help others no matter what the circumstances were, he never realized the impact he made on people's lives. He was known by many nieces as the gentle giant. One of Bob's most recent favorite past times was attending the PAMVET breakfast every Saturday morning. Attending this breakfast meant the world to Bob, he found a new joy which was refreshing to his family. All the PAMVET veterans meant so much to Bob, they were like his second family. Bob lived his last days with one goal in mind, attending his grand daughter's wedding on December 18, 2017. He passed away two weeks later. Bob is survived by his daughter Carie Lee Audas and her husband Will, his three grandchildren Jeremy Audas and his wife Aubreigh, Cierra Pfeiffer and her husband Andrew and Michael Audas who was born on his grandfather's 64 birthday, his sister Dorothy Stancliff, Trudy Hylton, Lois Hood and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by stepchildren Darrel Chastain and his wife Cheryl, Duke Chastain, Richard Chastain, grandchildren, Curtis Chastain, Phinesia Taylor, Amanda Grubb, Clinton Grubb, Kristina Chandler, Jonathan Rodman, Sara Sufentes and 15 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Robert Stubblefield, first wife Sharon Stubblefield, son Michael Robert Stubblefield, wife Billie Stubblefield, step-son Charles Chastain, and step-daughter Lori Grubb. Special thank you to the veterans with PAMVET for all your love, support and friendship and to UCHealth EMS and paramedics Sharon Lowery and Leslie Nine for volunteering your time to transport Bob to and from his grand daughters wedding and caring for his medical needs and to Chief Pat Songer for organizing and overseeing the transportation.
