What can you say about Robert (Bob) Charles Tuttle? He was an enigma (a person that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand). If you talk to Bob's friends, they'll probably tell you that enigma is a good description for a man small in stature but big in spirit, dreams, and ambitions. Bob was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 25, 1956, to Mary M Tuttle, who preceded him in death. He was adopted when he was a young child by Gary Tuttle, and together, Gary and Mary, along with their children Bob and sisters Jeannine, Killeen, and Julie made Albuquerque, New Mexico their home for many years. Bob attended Rio Grande high school, where many lifelong friendships were made. Bob liked to stay involved and supportive of others in their activities. He was a great "side-kick" as described by one of his good friends. Where Bob did excel was country dancing. He could burn up the dance floor like no other. Bob met Jeanne in high school, and while he was smitten with her, they were terrific friends and dance partners. After graduation in 1974, Bob and Jeanne's lives took them in different directions. Bob went to college at Eastern New Mexico University for a few years majoring in business. This gave him some experience to fall back on when he went to work for his father, who was launching Johnstone Companies in San Antonio, Tx, followed by several stores in California. In 1985, Bob opened and ran his own Johnston Company in El Paso, TX. With Bob's knack for making longtime friends, it was no surprise that many of Bob's customers became some of his good friends. One of Bob's greatest pleasures during a year was looking forward to the Johnstone Owners meetings. A yearly event where the Johnstone owners came from across the US to discuss business, exchange ideas, and socialize with each other. Bob's outgoing nature built many friendships that endured until his last days. Bob and Jeanne's paths crossed once again in 2000. This time Bob swept Jeanne off her feet and became the father that Cameron and Markus needed. In their twenty years as a family, the four of them became friendly adversaries when it came to NASCAR racing. They took family trips to Johnston conventions, went on cruises to other countries, and together as a family, gave some of the most unique parties for their friends. Throughout Markus and Cameron's teen years, they work at various jobs at Johnstone's, where Bob was grooming them in every aspect of running a business and how to give excellent customer service to anyone who walked through the door of Johnstone or any company or business. As a result of Bob's teachings, he was so proud when Cameron became the purchasing agent for Frigelar North America Inc., dba Johnston Supply Dallas Group, and Markus became an IT/counter employee at the El Paso Johnston Store. Even though Bob had no children of his own, Cameron and Markus considered Bob, their "father." They became the remarkable, kind, considerate men they are in part due to Bob's influence. He was always there for them in times of need. He was the proud father of the groom when Cameron married Joanna making her a loved part of the Tuttle family. Other people important to Bob (not previously mentioned) was his Aunt Sarah Landes, his cousins, Robert Landes and wife Yvonne; Cousin Jennifer Colley and husband, Dr. Terry Colley; cousin Cindy Wappler and husband, Troy; Marian Ball-Tuttle; Sprint Car race driver and good friend Tom Ball (T-Ball to Bob), and wife Patty; and Mary Jo Tuttle. Many happy moments were spent with his El Paso friends and their various friendly competitions: whose NASCAR driver is better, whose football team was better (we all knew that Bob's team was the Dallas Cowboys), who made the best sliders. Friends and camping trips equaled good times! There were camping trips to the lake; to Terlingua Chili Cookoff in the badlands of Terlingua, TX; camping trips to Sprint Car Races and NASCAR races; and of course, Las Vegas, NV. Many of them together with Bob and Jeanne made a special trip to Germany to visit dear friends. There was a most memorable time when all of his friends pooled their money for a trip to a Dallas Cowboy football game for his birthday and a check-off of his "bucket list" wishes. Bob's friends were numerous and important in his life! One other thing that had been numerous and important to Bob was his love for a sleek, fast, Corvette. Over his lifetime, Bob owned several, a red one, a blue one, and the last one was silver. Also, a highlight of his life was his trip to the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Once again, the question is asked, "What can you say about Bob?" He has been called an enigma, husband, father, son, nephew, cousin, friend, family, Bobby Brady, Tuttleboy, and lovingly, hard-headed, pain-in-the-neck, and Lord Farquaad. More than anything, you can say Bob was loved and cared for, by Jeanne, wife of 20-years and constant companion during the hard, painful years of his life. You can say Bob was father, dad, and beloved friend to Cameron and Markus. You can say Bob was loved and cared about by his New Mexico and Texas families. You can say Bob's happiest times were when his friends surrounded him. Most of all, you can say Bob was kind, generous, and helpful to those he loved and cared for. Jeanne, Cameron, and Markus would like to extend a very special Thank You to Bob's primary care doctor, and friend Dr. Nathaniel Griffith; and Mike and Dr. Robbie Rampy for their help, support, and house calls over the last eight years when Bob's health started deteriorating. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date when family and friends are able to travel. Jeanne would like to thank everyone for their kind words of sympathy and beautiful flowers. Even though Jeanne and Bob are separated, "by death they do part," the love between them is everlasting. Bob was a faithful supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project; therefore, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
