Robert Joseph Victor
May 24th, 1933 - October 23rd, 2020
Robert J. Victor, 87, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on October 23, 2020 due to natural causes. Robert, known to most as "Bob”, was born in May, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Loretta "Dolly” (Baker) Victor. He graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy, under the Naval Air Services Command. He was deployed on an aircraft carrier, as a radar operator on a submarine hunting aircraft. He visited many worldwide locations during his four years of service. In 1955 he married Barbara Bade, and they celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked under government contract on the Distant Early Warning Line (AKA DEW Line), in the Northwest Territories, Canada, as a radar operator. After completion of that contract, he worked for Martin-Marietta, first at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and then in Colorado. In 1963, he moved his family to Loveland, Colorado where he began working for Hewlett-Packard. He worked for the instrument division at the Loveland and Fort Collins facilities over the course of 32 years, before retiring with Hewlett-Packard. During this time, he also obtained a real estate sales license and sold properties for many years. Bob was an outdoor enthusiast, he had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and skiing. He delved into hot air ballooning, plane gliding, and upon retiring, he spent time golfing, biking and traveling. Bob enjoyed solving puzzles and creating some of his own with his wittiness. Those who knew him remember him for his puns and dry humor. He enjoyed spending time researching his family history. His family given name was Vincitorio, later changed to Victor. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and "Dolly”; his sisters Betty Moellner, and Loretta "Dolly” Luensman, and grandson James Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son Keith; daughter Suzanne (David); son Bryan; daughter Debi (Scott); and daughter Michelle; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Memorial services will be held at a future date in the upcoming year. Inurnment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. He will be dearly missed by many.
