Robert Covington Womack, age 66, died Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Charlotte’s Presbyterian Hospital as a result of heart failure. Robert was a native of Charlotte and spent his entire life living in the Plaza-Midwood area of the city. He was a 1976 Graduate of Garinger High School
and attended Western Carolina University. Robert spent his entire career working in retail; first with K-Mart, where he worked for over 30 years, and later with Lowes. Robert was an avid NASCAR fan and spent many years following Dale Earnhardt’s career. He was also a lifelong NY Yankees fan, a devoted Crimson Tide fan, and a lover of all things Irish. Southern Baptist, Robert and his family were long term members of Chantilly Baptist Church and later Eastern Hills Baptist Church. He had a strong Christian faith and relied solely upon Christ for his salvation. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Annie Laurie Womack. He is
survived by his brother Russell Womack of Charlotte. A memorial service celebrating Robert’s life will be held at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, located at 1111 East Blvd. in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, August 15, 2024 with visitation at 3:00 pm and service at 4:00 pm.
