Robert F. Wurster

Robert F. Wurster, 74, departed this earth on November 27, 2021 at 8:16 am at his home in Irmo, S.C. Robert was the son of Donald F. Wurster and Marie (Whiteside) Wurster formerly of LaPorte, IN. Robert was a retired from Sears & Roebuck, a Vietnam Veteran, and was a member of American Legion Post 172 in Columbia, S.C. Surviving are his wife, Marquetta Wurster of Irmo, S.C., his daughter Andrae Houghlan and husband John of Irmo, S.C., three granddaughters, Shalyn Yager and husband Trevor of Chapin, S.C., Mikyla Sturkie and husband Ryan of Irmo, S.C., and Maleeya Houghlan and fiancé Cameron Collins of Sumter, S.C. He also has three great grandchildren, Ryker Yager, Grayson Yager, and Lyla Sturkie who he loved to spoil and a great granddaughter, Eastyn Sturkie, who is due in January. Also surviving is sister, Kathy Kniola of LaPorte, IN., brother Tom Wurster and wife Mic of Osceola, IN., brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lonnie and Sandy Reger of LaPorte, IN. along with his other in laws, several nieces and nephews. Robert also had special “extra” children in his life that were like his own, Tim Houghlan of Carterville, IL., and Marimar Robertson of DeSoto, IL., along with their families which includes several more grandkids and great grandkids. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Donna Barr and Elaine Jones. A graveside service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC on December 13, 2021 at 9:00 am. Please arrive at 8:30 prior to the 9:00 am service.
