Robert Yeomans

September 15th, 1930 - May 11th, 2019

Obituary Robert Behney "Bob" Yeomans, 88, passed away on May 11, 2019 in Boulder, CO. He was surrounded by his children and their families. Bob had lived at the Sunrise Assisted Living Community in Boulder for the past 11 months. Bob was born September 15, 1930 to Paul Hayne and Helen Behney Yeomans in Lancaster, PA where he grew up with his parents and older brother Paul. He attended Lafayette College and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He graduated in 1952 with an Engineering degree after which he enlisted in the Navy. Bob served as a Naval officer for four years and was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant. He was a proud Naval aviator who flew dive bombers from the deck of the USS Intrepid. He continued to fly F9F-8's in the Navy Reserves for several years after his discharge. Bob married Barbara Anne Wynn on October 26, 1957. They settled in Berwyn, PA where they raised three children. Bob worked as the principal owner of Paul H. Yeomans, Inc. in downtown Philadelphia, a mechanical engineering design firm that his father had founded. After 38 years he and Barb retired to The Landings on Skidaway Island in Savannah, GA. Barb passed away in 1995. After a year as a widower Bob married Mary Elizabeth Taylor on May 18, 1996. Bob was an avid golfer and a regular on the courses at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, PA and The Landings. He even boasted a hole-in-one. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan from the age of five. The family spent many a happy summer together at the New Jersey shore in Avalon and Stone Harbor. Bob had a loving heart and always extended a helping hand. He served as a Church Elder and volunteered as a First Responder and School Math tutor. He also served extensively with Habitat for Humanity and Kiwanis Club. Bob was a devoted Christian and was most recently active at Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church in Savannah, GA. He was quick witted and a master of wise cracks. He was blessed with a large community of friends, many of whom he remained in close contact with through the years. Above all, he cherished his family, his dogs, his rocking chair, and a big bowl of ice cream. He is survived by his wife Mary E. Yeomans of Savannah, GA; his children, Lynn Y. (Robert) O'Donnell of Boulder, CO; Donna Y. (Mike) Gardner of Bozeman, MT; Andrew W. (Jennifer) Yeomans of Boulder, CO; and his grandchildren, Ali W. O'Donnell, Siri W. O'Donnell, Graham W. Gardner, and Quinn M. Gardner. He also enjoyed spending time with Marys Savannah family, Geoff, Molly, Finn and Keating Taylor. He was preceded in death by his brother Paul H. (Ruth) Yeomans, Jr. of Devon, PA; and his first wife, the mother of his three children, Barbara W. Yeomans. Bobs family has lost a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, but is comforted in knowing that he is at peace with his eternal Father in heaven.
