Byes, Roberta Joanne, 85 09/27/1924 06/04/2010 Roberta J. Turner was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Creston, Iowa, to Edward and Marguerite Turner. She was the third of their 10 children. She met the love of her life, James Edward Byes, in high school, and they married in 1943. Roberta worked in the shipyards in Portland during World War II and after Jim returned from the war, they started their family of six. Roberta was a devoted mother, wife, grand-mother, and homemaker. She and Jim were married until his death in April 1997. Roberta passed away peacefully June 4, 2010, in hospice care after battling dementia and Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her sisters, Geraldine, Helen, and Audrey; and children, Gretchen, Gregory, Shannon, Claudia, Jonathan, and James Robert "Chip"; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Roberta will be fondly remembered and greatly missed. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Remembrances to Housecall Providers Hospice are suggested. Arrangements by Autumn Funerals and Cremations.
