She married the love of her life, Joseph Martin, on August 4, 1956 and moved to Garnerville, New York where they raised 8 children. Roberta loved crocheting, ceramics, and cooking for her family and friends. She loved entertaining and gave us all many, many great memories. Her house was always open to friends and family from near and far. Any given summer there was always a few extra kids at “Camp Aunt Roberta”. Her greatest joy was when her big and extended family would get together for holidays, or any occasion, no matter how big or small. She is survived by her husband Joseph and her eight children, Ellen (Rodger) Eckerson, Mary (Martin) Hand, Joseph (Janice), Robert (Nancy), John (UnaMary), Billy (Theresa), Jeanne, Leslie (Kevin) Hofving. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Taylor and sister-in-law Helen Lally, her dear cousin Bro. William Martyn SA, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents Thomas and Genevieve, sister Joan Manger, and several dear in-laws. After raising her eight children she worked at the Haverstraw Town Justice Court as Court Clerk for several years before retiring to travel and spend time with her family. Family will receive friends on Sunday August 21 from 3:00 to 7:00 at T.J. McGowan and Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, followed by internment at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Gregory Barbarigo on her behalf. She was a founding parishioner and always held the Church near and dear to her heart.
