OAKVILLE – Roberta Marie (Barnett) Mellick, also known as Berta, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on August 30, 2024, after spending some months in an Assisted Living facility where she was affectionately called “Birdie”.  She was born April 2, 1929, in Kendrick, Idaho, to Commodore Elliot Barnett and Dorotha Agnes (Wolfe) Barnett. Dorotha passed in 1943, after a long battle with tuberculosis.

At 17 years old, while working on a ranch outside of Cheney, Roberta met her husband, Gilbert (Gil) Mellick, and they were married on August 26, 1946, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.  Gil and Berta enjoyed their beautiful marriage and family, consisting of 4 children, with Gil passing in 2004.

Berta was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert A. Mellick, their son Gene (Gino) A. Mellick, and her sister Ruth E. (Barnett) Olney.  She is survived by her son Gary (and Pam) Mellick of Yakima WA, her daughter Katherine Good of Florence MT, her daughter Cheryl Bishop of Oakville WA, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.  She is well loved by her family and many friends, and will be greatly missed by all.  Berta, rest safely in the arms of Jesus until we meet again in heaven.
