Roberto Pattaui Lauigan, Jr.
March 9th, 1954 - November 27th, 2023
Roberto “Bob” Pattaui Lauigan Jr. was born on March 9, 1954 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Philippines to Florfina Pattaui Lauigan and Roberto Lauigan. He was the younger of two children, with an older sister, Elizabeth. He attended high school at St. Louis in Tuguegarao and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from FEATI Universty in Manila. Bob married his wife, Edna, in 1981 after a long-distance courtship. They had their only child, their daughter Ada, in 1989. While Edna worked in the Middle East, Bob stayed in the Philippines to raise Ada and work as an electrical engineer for the Department of Public Works and Highways. In 1998, Bob, Edna and Ada immigrated to Los Angeles. Already in their 40’s and with very little, Bob and Edna started their life over. Through it all, Bob remained a dedicated husband and father. He was a stay-at-home dad, maintaining the household so that Edna could continue her career. He cooked delicious food, cleaned, packed lunches, did school pick-ups and drop-offs, drove Edna to and from work, and tended to his fruit and vegetable garden. When Ada had a daughter of her own in 2021, Bob took care of his granddaughter Simone “Momo” every week until his cancer diagnosis in June 2023. Bob happily devoted his life to his family in a way that was not conventional for men of his generation, and he did it with tremendous love. Bob passed away on November 27, 2023 in Santa Barbara, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florfina and Roberto. He is survived by his wife Edna, daughter Ada (Ryan), granddaughter Simone, sister Elizabeth (Jun) and many family members and friends. He will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, uncle, friend, and Lolo by those he leaves behind.
