Roby Patton Calhoun

Roby P. Calhoun, age 76, of Church Hill, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January, 8, 2018 at his home. He was born in Kingsport and had spent most of his life in the Yuma community in Scott County, VA. Roby was a veteran of the United States military having proudly served in the Army. Following his military service he was employed at Holston Defense and Lester's Road Service. He was a retiree of Mason-Dixon Trucking, yet continued at Lester's Road Service. He attended Cowan's Branch Baptist Church in Gate City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Stella Calhoun; brother, Hamilton Calhoun; sister, June Calhoun Vaughn; and 2 infant sisters. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Calhoun; 3 daughters, Lisa Hart and husband, Greg of Pocahontas, AR, Tina Calhoun and Teresa Calhoun; son, Donald Ray Calhoun; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Sue Thomas and husband, Eddie, Martha Elliott and husband, Steve, Anita McGee and husband, Ronald, and Kathy Hite; brothers, Scottie Calhoun and wife, Linda, and R.S. Calhoun and wife, Donna; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
